Took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday and checked out the fall foliage at Shenandoah National Park! 🍁🍂🏞
I got there around 10 am and the line to enter took about 20 minutes with cars backed up to the highway! 🤯 Skyline Drive made the trip to the parking lot so magical and many of the overlooks also had amazing views.
I hiked Bearfence Mountain (2 hours from Richmond) which was SO much fun and one of my all time FAVE hikes! 🐻⛰ It’s about 1 mile long and took about 1 hour to hike. The rock scramble makes this trail a unique hike to a great view. 🧗🏽♀️ Plus, Bearfence Mtn is one of only THREE summits in Shenandoah that have a 360-degree view...and trust me the view was definitely worth the climb! 😍 However, I would not recommend this trail to kids or those with a fear of heights and suggest it mainly for those who are reasonably fit and flexible. Near the summit, the climbing path comes within 2 feet of sheer drops so it would also be wise not to climb this in the rain when the rocks will be slippery. ☔️ I left the park around 12 pm and the entrance line was twice as long, so going earlier is better than later.
Also, I wore my new Oboz hiking boots and Darn Tough bear socks from REI for the climb which were both perfect! 🥾🧦 I didn’t get any blisters and my feet felt cushioned yet still had plenty of grip for the scramble. Not to mention the fact that they are cute and stylish but still get the job done. ✅ I definitely recommend REI if you are looking for a pair of hiking boots, they have a 1 year return policy so if there’s anything you don’t like about them after trying them out, you can return for a replacement or refund.
If you haven’t been to Shenandoah yet to see the fall foliage, I recommend you go soon, as time is running out! ⏳🍁🍂
