Sophie Printmaking: Handmade Linocut Prints With Love From Richmond

Updated: Dec 10, 2021

Today’s Small Business Sunday shoutout goes out to Sophie Printmaking! 👩🏻‍🎨🖼 I first met Sophie at the South of the James Market and she is an absolute queen!!! 👑 With a degree and background in painting and printmaking from VCU in 2019 (heyyy classmate 🥳), Sophie creates handmade items ranging from linocut prints to totes, shirts, tea towels, and postcards. When I first saw her post about her new ACL Railroad Bridge Tote Bags, I knew I immediately had to get one! 🛤 I've had mine for over a month now, and I absolutely love it and use it almost everyday. She sells the totes for $22 on her website, but if you show up to a local market, she has a separate stack with 'imperfect' prints for $17 and the difference between the two is almost unnoticeable. 🤯 If you like the design but not the tote format, the ACL Railroad Bridge print also comes in the form of a postcard, shirt, and tea towel. 💯

Sophie is most well known for her handmade linocut prints of beloved landmarks and restaurants all around RVA and I can't wait to get my hands on some of these soon! 😍 I feel like they would make the perfect gift for someone who holds a particular spot dear to their heart or for someone who moved away and is feeling homesick. Local artists don't get enough love in my opinion and Sophie is one I'm happy to support and recommend! 💛🖤 Everything in her shop is less than $50 and most things are under $25, so her prices are extremely reasonable considering the amount of work that goes into making each item. Give her a visit on Thursdays at the South of the James Market at Forest Hill Park from 4-7pm or on Saturdays at the RVA BIG Market at Bryan Park from 8-12pm! 🌳 The nice part about visiting her shop in person is that you get to choose the exact print you want to buy, but you can also hit up her website to order if you don't live locally. Now go check out Sophie Printmaking! 👉
