It’s officially tacky lights season!🎄🦌🏠 One of my favorite holiday traditions I just started last year is driving to all the RVA tacky lights houses decked out with INSANE over-the-top decorations. 🤩 I also added on the Richmond Floodwall and Kanawha Plaza to the end of my trip to see the RVA Illuminates city lights and Christmas tree. 🌃🎄 Pro tip: make yourself a hot chocolate with marshmallows in a travel mug so you can bring it with you on the drive. 🍫🍪🥛 Richmond Times-Dispatch put out a list about a week ago of all the registered houses on the 2020 Tacky Lights Tour list (I’ve included a picture at the end of my post). Did you know that the light requirement to be put on the list was initially 10,000 lights, but displays have been getting bigger and bigger every year so now the requirement is a whopping MINIMUM of 40,000 lights! 🤯 Here's some of addresses I went to:
📍 408 S Laurel St
📍 Floodwall West Entrance, RVA
📍 3209 Hanover Ave
📍 Kanawha Plaza
📍 2814 W Grace St
📍 3307 Kensington Ave
📍 1510 Grove Ave
Most of these are in Museum District/The Fan area but the first house (my fav 😍) is in Oregon Hill. I recommend using google maps to add all the addresses and rearrange the stops to figure out the best/fastest path for you from whatever direction you’re coming from! 🗺 This is such a fun, feel-good activity to do with family or friends as it’s COVID-friendly and doesn’t require being around others. Let me know in the comments what your favorite tacky lights house of 2020 is!! 🎄⬇️
