❣️ PLEASE READ ❣️

This week, I will not be doing a traditional Small Business Sunday Shoutout. Instead, I will be featuring SEVERAL of my favorite local/small businesses that I think deserve all the love. 💛 Since the start of the pandemic, I’ve made it one of my priorities to support local businesses, and as it is winding down (*knock on wood*), it is still just as important as ever. Keep reading for 7 reasons to shop local this holiday season:

1. The Economy - This is probably the most obvious reason. Giving back to local shops in turn helps your local economy and job growth. More of your money is likely to stay within your community and create/keep more jobs for locals.

2. The Convenience - You don’t have to worry about supply chain issues and holiday shipping delays from major retailers by shopping local. I think we all know the pain of telling your friend/loved one their gift isn’t arriving until January lol

3. The Quality - The fact that you know exactly what you’re buying and the quality of it before purchasing is a major benefit. Plus, the quality of service is unmatched.

4. The Connections - I’ve gotten to meet and form relationships with so many wonderful business owners and employees over the past year and it’s been awesome to get to support and watch their growth.

5. The Environment - Help reduce your carbon footprint and decrease packaging waste by shopping at a local business instead of a chain.

6. The People - You help support people just like you with similar goals and dreams (and they could be your own neighbors as far as you know)! Caring for them and their businesses helps grow our community and encourages a circle of people supporting people.

7. The Reward - Not only is shopping local good for others, but it is also good for the soul. There’s no doubt of the rewarding feeling you get by giving back to the community.

Small and local businesses are what make our neighborhoods special and for every one that has closed its doors due to the pandemic or chains, RVA loses a part of its character and diversity. So, in the holiday spirit, please shop small, spend locally, and remember how important small businesses are to our community. 💝
