New Orleans Style Sno-Balls In Historic Jackson Ward

Last week’s warm weather has me craving Suzy Sno (@suzysno)! 😩🍧❄️🍬 I first went here last month during the week of Richmond Black Restaurant Experience 2022 after they reopened their doors following a brief winter hiatus. This cute and cozy sno-ball shop is owned by Rabia Kamara and is dubbed as the ONLY shaved ice spot in the city of RVA. 🙌 They serve New Orleans style sno-balls which, unlike snow cones and snowballs, means their ice is fine and fluffy like fresh fallen snow! There’s 60+ flavors to choose from which are all made in house and with organic sugar. 🔥 Did you know you can even add toppings like a scoop of @rubyscoopsic to your sno-ball for just $1 extra?! 🤩🍨 Suzy Sno also serves specialty sno-balls such as the Tres Leches which is pictured here. It features wedding cake syrup, condensed milk, and evaporated milk topped with whipped cream and a dulce de leche drizzle.💧 Also pictured is a make your own sno-ball with the flavors root beer and bubble gum.

I definitely need to go back to try the Spicy Mango Marg flavor (alcohol free). 😋🥭🍹 They offer 4 different sno-ball sizes: snowflake, snowstorm, blizzard, and avalanche which correlate to S, M, L, and XL respectively. 🥤 Pictured is the snowstorm which I highly recommend since it felt like the perfect amount!

Above the sweet treats, I love that Suzy Sno has a gorgeous photo wall highlighting Black history, a homage to both historic Jackson Ward and NOLA alike. 🎷 They are open 3-7pm on Thursday & Friday and 1-7pm on Saturday & Sunday so definitely add them to your calendar for this weekend as the weather reaches back up to the 80s. 😍☀️ If you’ve tried Ruby Scoops and loved it, you sure won’t be disappointed by its little sister, Suzy Sno! 💙
