Throwback to Run Richmond 16.19 I did a couple weekends ago! 🏃🏽♀️ This 16.19 K (10.06 mile) run organized by @dhf_org, @sportsbackers, and @bhmva was one of my favorite races EVER and I even placed second for my age group/gender! 🥈
I loved that it highlighted the sacrifices and achievements of African Americans who built our nation and had several stopping points along the course at historic buildings, monuments, and street art to read up on Richmond’s history and involvement in the transatlantic slave trade. The race went through all my favorite areas of downtown RVA including Browns Island, the T. Pott Bridge, the Flood Wall, the Canal Walk, the Low Line, the VA Capital Trail, Main Street Station, the VA State Capitol, and Kanawha Plaza. 🏛 I had so much fun running for such a beautiful cause: to celebrate and champion unity in diversity as a community. ✊🏽
On another note, it has finally reached the point in marathon training where a 12 mile run is considered a “short” run…and OH how much I love saying that! 😂🙌 There’s a little over a month until marathon day and I’m feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. We will see how that changes after my 18 mile run next weekend. 😬😅
Hope everyone is staying safe and dry this weekend! ☔️
