Island Shrimp Co. 2.0: The Destination For The Best Happy Hour Deals

Even on a rainy day, Island Shrimp Co. doesn’t fail to put a smile on your face! 😁🏝🌺🍹 Last month, @islandshrimpco had the opening of their second location in Rockett’s Landing next to @boathouse_va. If you haven’t been to the former Conch Republic which used to be at this address, let me just say the UPGRADE was much-needed and completely TRANSFORMED the space into a tropical paradise! 🌴🏄🏽‍♀️🐚 The restaurant is painted turquoise and white with the blue representing a water line to make you feel like you’re walking on water. 🌊 Not only that, but they have custom surf boards from Hawaii, surf videos playing on repeat, an interactive art installation on the stairs leading up to the restaurant, and beachy music playing throughout the space which were the perfect finishing touches.



Some of the menu items I tried were the:


🌺 Kahlua Pork Nachos // tortilla chips, guava BBQ, kahlua pork, queso, pineapple salsa, radish, jalapeno, green onion, cilantro



🦀 Crab Dip // bubbling hot trio of cheeses, lump crab topped, tortilla chips



🍤 Coconut Shrimp // served with pineapple chili sauce

🫔 Lumpia // Filipino pork and vegetable spring rolls, pineapple sweet chili dipping sauce



🍍 Grilled Pineapple // fresh with cinnamon glaze



🍢 Teriyaki Chicken Skewers // marinated chicken thigh, grilled and topped with homemade teriyaki sauce, toasted sesame seeds, and green onion



🍔 Kahlua Pork Sandwich // kahlua pork, toasted Hawaiian sweet roll, guava bbq, island slaw



🍩 Malasados // Portuguese donuts with Nutella hazelnut mousse and Hawaiian coconut custard dipping sauces



🍹 Blue Hawaiian // vodka, white rum, fresh lemon juice, blue curacao, simple and pineapple juice



🥃 Surfer on Acid // lime juice, orgeat, plantation pineapple rum, jagermeister, pineapple juice



🍊 Island Crush // one whole orange squeezed to order, tropical fruit rum, pineapple juice, splash of sprite



My food favorites were definitely the Crab Dip, Nachos, Coconut Shrimp, and Malasados. 💯 And you gotta try some of their seasonal cocktails before it’s too late…the Blue Hawaiian was 🤌 and for every #LOVELOUD cocktail sold during the month of June, $1 will be donated to the LOVELOUD Foundation, which supports LGBTQ+ youth. You can even add on "Island Style" to your drink for an extra price at checkout to have it served in a pineapple or coconut cup. 🍍🥥


FYI, they do use a blended service system where you order online and your meal/drinks are brought out to you. I actually found this nice when wanting to order a second round of appetizers or drinks and you can just place the order remotely without waving down a server. I will say the drinks take longer to come out than the food so order those first while you look over the menu and decide what to eat. After bringing out the food, the servers and staff check on your table every 5 minutes or so, and I thought it was great service considering how busy it was when I went during happy hour. For payment, you can have one person pay the entire tab, or can separate the check based on who ordered what. This feature will come in handy for large groups! Note that a 20% service fee is included and additional tip is optional.




This summer, you can expect the patio deck to be filled, so be sure to call and make those reservations. 😍 I’d say the best time to visit ISCo2 is during their happy hour Monday-Friday from 4-6pm when they have 1/2 off select drinks and 1/2 off ALL appetizers. Essentially, all the food/drink options included in Happy Hour are only $5 each! 🤯 And make sure to stay for golden hour on the waterfront…the staff tells me the sunset views are not one to miss! 🌅 Will you be soaking up the tropical vibes at ISCo2 this summer?! 🐠☀️🌴
