A Quaint Neighborhood Cafe in Church Hill

One of my new favorite neighborhood spots in Church Hill: The Hill Cafe! 🥳 This restaurant has something for everyone and leaves everyone with a happy stomach. I went a while ago and didn’t enjoy my food (I had a Blue Plate) so I was hesitant to go back, but I’m glad I gave it another try!

This time, I got the Fried Chicken Sandwich with shoestring fries. 🍗🍟 It was topped with Black Forest ham, Swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomato (but I asked for it without tomato and instead a side of Dijon mustard). 🧀🥬🍅 It was cooked perfectly and it was one of the best warm sandwiches I’ve had...definitely going to be my go-to order from now on!

We started with the crab dip with warm pita (my favorite kind of dipping food!) which was delicious by itself but I think it could have been even better with some baked cheese and a touch of old bay on top to add more dimension! 🤩 My mom pointed out that the artichokes in it were not noticeable but that didn’t bother me.

My mom ordered the Black Bean Burger (topped with avocado, monterey jack, and chipotle aioli) with sweet potato fries which she ate right up 😋🍠

We had to wait around 20 minutes for a table outside but the seating was great and we enjoyed people and dog watching while waiting for our food!🚶🏻‍♀️🦮🐕‍🦺 The service could have been better, as my mustard was forgotten at first and we started getting bit by bugs while waiting for our check to be brought out, but it is understandable as they are a pretty busy place. Overall, The Hill Cafe redeemed itself in my book and is added to my list of regular spots within walking distance of Church Hill! ⛪️
